Saucy Walker And Friends
Saucy Walker is a doll that was made by Ideal in the 1950's. As with most of Ideal's dolls, there were also many lookalikes produced by other companies. The most well-known Saucy Walker is probably the 22-inch hard plastic walker doll made by Ideal for several years in the early 1950's (my Ideal Saucy is the little gal on the bottom left corner of the photo). My little 16-inch Saucy (the dark haired one with no teeth) is also an Ideal doll, but she has a vinyl head. Posie (bottom right blonde-haried doll in photo) is also an Ideal doll. Posie is a 23-inch vinyl head doll with the same body as the 22/23-inch Saucy Walker that was made by Ideal. However, Posie has jointed knees (she is the doll of a thousand poses per Ideal's advertising). There are also some Ideal Saucy Walkers with jointed knees.
My other special little walker doll (the one in upper left corner of photo) is not an Ideal doll, but she is an excellent example of the many unmarked Saucy types that were made. She stands about 19 inches tall, and I believe she may be Tina Toddler by Imperial Crown Toys.
A company named Impco also made some wonderful walker dolls that bear a resemblance to Saucy.
I know it is pretty obvious that I love dark haired, blue eyed Saucys, but they did make many other hair and eye combinations!
