Kissy

Kissy is a favorite of mine. She was made by Ideal in the early 1960's. Big Kissy stands 22-1/2 inches tall, and Tiny Kissy is all of 16 inches. Kissy has a most endearing face -- and the chubbiest of toddler bodies.

Sewing for Kissy is absolutely fun! She looks sassy-cute in all of her clothes. I really think she is the Queen Of Toddler Dolls, but others may disagree with me.

You will see Kissy in many sweet outfits made from the original Kissy pattern as well as Lady Camellia's own designs.

• The original Kissy was manufactured and marketed by Ideal Toy Corporation between 1961 and 1964. She was approximately 22 inches tall, and her head, arms and legs were attached with flexible cords (strung) rather than flanged joints.
• A Kissy Baby was manufactured in 1963-64 with bent legs and an updated face. She was about the same length as the original Kissy at 22 inches.
• From 1963 to 1968, Ideal marketed the smaller 16-inch doll, Tiny Kissy, who is almost identical to the original Kissy except for size.
• Cuddly Kissy was born in 1965 -- a cloth bodied version of the 16-inch Tiny Kissy.
• In 1966, the company introduced a long-haired version of Tiny Kissy.
• Kissy had a special song that was used in Ideal's advertising. It went like this: Go get Kissy if you want a little kiss, press her arms like this and you get a little kiss, go get Kissy if you want a little kiss, for you she is Ideal.
