Candy Fashion

Candy Fashion! The Deluxe Reading Company manufactured Candy Fashion in 1962, and she was sold in grocery stores. She is a plastic doll with jointed knees and elbows. Her knee movement is a result of a band that is strung from her upper leg to her lower leg. Her elbows are jointed to the point of forearm swivel, not complete rotation.

I love Candy's Cissy-like face. She is a fun doll for anyone at any age! At 21 inches, her body is very close in proportion to Madame Alexander's vintage Cissy doll (I consider her the Cissy for poor folks). Even though inexpensively made, Candy looks good in everything from business suits to party dresses. In fact, she was marketed with a complete set of outfits with matching accessories, as well as plastic mannequins for her outfits.

  • Coral chiffon evening dress with matching wrap
  • Blue and red suit that looks like an airline stewardess (oops . . . flight attendant!)
  • Green day-type dress
  • Summer outfit -- swimsuit with coverup
