Blackeyed Peas and the New Year
I almost forgot that I need to eat blackeyed peas today. It’s an old family tradition. For a while, I debated whether to just skip the tradition this year. Having thought about it, though, I felt compelled to jump in the car and get over to the grocery store for some Texas Caviar. Now if you have never tasted Texas Caviar, you are missing out on a great dish. The ingredients include blackeyed peas, chopped tomatoes and onions and cilantro.
Tradition indicates that eating blackeyed peas on New Year’s Day ensures prosperity all year. Whether true or not, I’m not taking any chances!
